Trouble with HK Input/Surround Settings

Hi everyone,

Having trouble setting up my AVR635. I'd like to set up each device with the proper input and surround mode and save the configuration so when I select a specific device (like DVD), all my custom settings are recalled. However, when I access the OSD menu and select "Coaxial 1" as my Digital In for DVD, it automatically reverts back to Analog. A similar issue happens when trying to set up the Surround mode -- I select "Logic 7 - 7 Channel Cinema", but when I go out of OSD and select DVD it changes to "Logic 7 - 5 Channel Music".

Why aren't my selections sticking? What am I doing wrong?

You probably have to hit another button to save the settings rather than just exiting the OSD. Maybe enter or one of the arrow keys? The information should be in the manual if my guess is correct.

Thanks for your response. I don't even have a chance to exit the setup screen without the Coaxial 1 setting reverting back to Analog. About 2 seconds after selecting Coaxial 1, it changes to Analog again. Very frustrating. I've checked the manual but it doesn't mention why a setting won't hold.

Yes. I just double-checked that.

Well, I seem to have the audio inputs working correctly, but I still can't get the surround mode to stick.

Speaking of surround modes, which do you prefer . . . Logic 7 or Dolby Pro Logic IIx?

I think you need to be in the input source with some sort of digital audio programming present. I think if the avr doesn't see a digital source it will revert back to analog.
