trouble with Dayton Audio 18-22 driver and crown XLS1502

So I just noticed that channel 2 on the amp isn't doing anything. The green gain indicator light is on and measures the same as channel 1 Channel 1 in controlling the gain/volume of the bass only. I turn channel 1 down to zero and no bass comes out when I have channel 2 turned up.

The driver is a dual voice coil and I have it connected as each coil is connected to a separate channel on the Crown. (i.e. coil 1 goes to channel 1 and coil 2 goes to channel 2).

Thoughts on why when I turn the channel 2 knob on the amp and nothing is happening?

I'd have bridged the amp and wired the coils. Without confirming each step hard to say. Lemme think on it for a second when I get home and look at one of my amps.

Also did you get 2ohm version of the sub? If so I'd unhook everything now as you need to wire them in series as that amp needs to see 4ohms not 2.

Yes I have 2 ohm voice coils. But the amp handles 2 ohms @ 775W per channel. I spoke with Crown and this is what they recommended because it is safer to run the amp due to voltage.

I'm not so sure as I would only want a single signal source to the sub then wire series or parallel, mabye others can chime in, but that's not how I'd do it and have never done it. Since you have an issue I'd disconnect untill confirmed by other not crown

ok problem solved.... I disassembled the speakon and when I took the wire out, there were small pieces that came out. I guess I tightened the speakon screws too tight and broke some of the wire strands and this caused a problem.

It makes sense what you are saying and I was going to go that route but I was informed that it could be dangerous for the amp (TLSguy) as well as Crown... I'll look for the email that I posted in another thread for you.

I've never heard of running each coil off a separate channel, only running them in series or parallel. I have to imagine that running the coils on separate channels could introduce issues where the signal is slightly different.

You get the same power running the amp at 4ohm bridged as you do running each channel at 2ohm, since each channel is seeing the same load, but you have the added benefit of the channels being sync'd.

I get that but I was told by Crown and TLSguy(who is very knowledgeable) not to do this because I can cause damage due to increased voltage coming from the amp when running in bridged mode. Apparently, running the amp in bridged mode can be dangerous.

So try rewiring it the other way....despite the recommendations.

Both of mine are wired as I described with crown amps, a model up from yours, and I havent had a single issue in over a year.
