Hi. What is an appropriate amount of AC voltage to see on the coax cable coming out of the combination of TV, Tivo, and HD Digital Cable Box? The Comcast Cable guy measures 40 to 50 volts AC on the cable coming out of the house, and he says this is responsible for service dropouts in Internet, TV, and Phone. Ick. Unplug the whole set of AV boxes, and the voltage drops back to nothing. Plug in one thing at a time, we see each adds about 10-15 volts. Makes no sense to me. An extra coax cable with nothing plugged in shows about 5 volts, which I also don't understand. Where does this extra voltage come from?
I've tested the power outlets, with a 3-prong outlet tester from Home Depot, and everything checks out.
Any ideas what is going on?
