Trigger AC fan from Yamaha RX-A1010?

I recently acquired a Yamaha Aventage RX-A1010 HT receiver. Unlike my prior Yamaha receiver, this unit does not provide a switched AC outlet. Since my unit is in a cabinet, I use an AC-powered fan array to keep things cool while my system is in use. The 1010 does offer trigger switching, however, so I'm wondering about a low-cost way to rig up a trigger ON/OFF for the fan array.

The Xantech AC-1 (Amazon.com: XANTECH AC1 Controlled AC Outlet: Electronics) looks like it might do the trick, but at ~$85 it's still somewhat pricey for what I perceive as a simple requirement. Ideally, I'd like to incorporate a timed delay, whereby the fan array shuts down five minutes or so after the receiver is powered off.

Ideas?

If you're at all handy with electronics, you could buy a relay and use the 12 volt trigger from the receiver to trip it. Would cost you about $5 and half an hour.

I ues a manual load switch witch controles 2 of 6 fans there for I can chose when to start it up and turn it off, you can get a power block controle with a heat censore to trigger it

I started out with a Xantech AC-1 but sold it with my sub and temporarily just plugged my fans directly into the outlet and let them run continuously. That was about 3 years ago and they are still on the temp system. I kind of forgot about it until now....

Hi. You could also consider a power strip that is triggered off of one of the plugged in components (in this case, your Yamaha). After researching for other threads, I tend to suggest the Smart Strip because it has an adjustable sensitivity for the trigger component - which is nice because different components draw different amounts of power in standby mode. That wouldn't give you a five-minute delay, but it's another option.
