Transfer 8mm film to DVD recommendations

First let me say that I am not interested in trying to do this myself, I am looking for recommendations for a company to transfer these.

I have fourteen reels of 8mm film that we inherited from my late father in-law. The film dates from 1957 to the mid sixties and appears to be in pretty good shape. I would like to have these transfered to DVD to preserve them and so I can share them with family members. Has anyone out there had this done and do you have any companies you would recommend?

Thanks for the help.

I did this with a VHS. Check your Yellow pages for film transfer, or your local newspaper for such ads. We have one such place with a smallish local of about 50 thousand with 4/5 cities all bunched together:D

Here's what Robert A. Harris told me when I spoke with him about this very subject:

Chuck,

Your best bet is to contact Taylor Whitney, who works out of Rochester. Her background is film restoration, having trained at The George Eastman House and working for Kodak.

818 317-7147 or 585 271-4721

What one does not want to do is turn older footage over to a camera store.

best,

RAH

Mtry, I have found one local place, but I'm not sure of their quality so I was looking for other options.

Biggie, did you have any work done by the person you referred, and if so how were the results?

Thanks

No, I did not because I had trouble locating the 8mm film! One of my relatives has a copy however.
