Total n00b here.

Considering I have very minimal experience in this arena I figured I ask for some help from the experts. I'd appreciate any advice.

My company visits an industry trade show every year and it's booths are typically about 100 feet long.

My boss wants to have one small speaker every ten feet playing very low background music throughout the show. He also wants this done on a LOW budget. If it goes over well he'll invest into something more professional but he wants to see the reaction first from customers.

My idea is (not exactly groundbreaking) just to pickup an inexpensive 5.1 channel receiver, double up every channel so that there are ten speakers total (no subwoofer), and run the receiver in MONO so that every speaker is outputting the same thing.

1) Can this be done?
2) Is this the retarded way of doing it?
3) Any suggestions on how to improve this setup?

Again I really appreciate any help. Your forum was recommended highly for things like this so I hope I am in the right place. :)

First budget, then how the speakers will be wired ie, parallel or series, then amp, if you need control over a specific you could use a speaker selector, with volume control.

You may want to use a 25v/70v PA setup. Bogen is a popular manufacturer for this type. You would find something like this in a doctors office where they have speakers through out all the offices.
