I am currently looking for a pair of tower speakers to replace my Magnepan MG1 speakers that do not fit well into our new house. I would like more bass than the maggies without having to have a sub attached. Please make a recommendation for the current components I have:

Amp - Parasound HCA-1500A
PreAmp - Quicksilver Line Stage
Tuner - Onkyo T-455
CD Player - Onkyo DX-7555

I have budgeted $2000 for the speakers, but would consider a bit more if needed. Would prefer less if the sound is right.

Thanks!

What is your room size/ dimension?

Why don't the Magnepan speakers fit well?

RBH SX-6300, NHT Classic Four, Revel F206, KEF R700.

I agree but they are in the $3500 range, he wants $2000 or less
How about sierra towers, one of my picks for $2000, salk song towers are another popular $2000 option, but if I were lokoing for a set of towers rite now, I would say get the carnegie CST1's for $1000 {or what ever the sale price was, another member just grabbed a set and liked them and I love my csb1's...

I just got a set of the Carnegie CST 1's for 1100 shipped. I'm currently running them in a 2.0 system. They certainly have enough bass for me. Not sure how you can beat them for the price. They are being sold for 1000 because not enough damping material was added to the speaker. I haven't even added fill yet and I am thoroughly enjoying the speakers.

For your budget, certainly the speakers listed above are also worthy competitors. I would also add Ohm to the list, they dig rather deep for 2,000 dollar towers, and they offer a 120 day return policy although return shipping would be on you. They would have been my 2000 dollar pick until I saw the Carnegie deal.

Jim is obviously the member I was talking about, so it looks like $1100 shipped and I agree that is hard to beat. I bought the csb1's and paired them with a pair of bstock piano black svs sb12 nsd's and I paid $1550 for both the speakers and the pair of subs, which if you aren't completely against subs IMO sounds awesome, plenty of bass, and crossing the lows from your ains gets more out of your primary amp, so you can use something smaller like a topping tp60 vs needing more power, or in your case will make your 2005 watts go much further leaving much more headroom...

Nice price on the Boston's, they are also buy 1 get 1 free at World Wide Stereo.

I have the Focal 726V's and they definitely have a nice clean sound, but not as much bass as the Carnegie's.
