So if i wanted to get digital audio (i.e. 5.1 signal) into my PC's sound card which only has SPDIF for digital in from my dish network satellite receiver which only has toslink out...can i just pickup some sort of toslink-to-coax converter or am i just screwed? Trying to get a little mini-home theater going in the bedroom...may as well go for 5.1 from the computer's speakers if i can swing it right?

Thanks,

-g

hmmm

Does your system have the breakout box or is that the "pro" model? I use the term pro in reference to a soundblaster product loosly. ;)

No external module with mine, seems like that's with the 'Pro' models.

Check out this link. Scroll down and you can find what you need for 25.99. Not bad. I can't say I've ever used one, and while the M-Audio ones are more expensive, the cheapest ones are 80 bucks and for the amount of fidelity you're demanding, I really don't see the need.

I kinda got fed up with the soundblaster stuff and moved on to a little bit more pro stuff. work with the delta 1010 lt on my desktop. Its an audio production computer but I still have all the in and output to make it into a kickass media computer. The m-audio one there is a pretty solid choice. Like he said, you dont need anything fancy.
