Toshiba HD-A30 HD DVD Player - Which firmware should I use?

What's the best firmware to use for the HD-A30? I'm reading mixed reports about good and bad firmware for this model. Getting one in soon. Thanks.

Pretty much you should always use the latest. I never had any issues with mine other than it being so damn slow.

High Def Digest still has their HD DVD forum (was that you asking there too? ). That might be the best place to ask about a specific player or version of firmware. I don't go to AVS forums, but there's a good chance someone there will know. I sold my player last year so I haven't kept up with info on that guy. I did sell it to a buddy of mine cheap and he still has it with no issues.

I thought everybody updated to 4.0, on all of those Tosh players. You can ask Toshiba directly for FW, or at least you could back then, but it will take a while to get to you. Or just do it yourself.

24p being auto-detected and produced is pretty huge in my book. If you failed to output 24p on my system, you can often tell pretty easily.

Jostenmeat is right, use 4.0 and be happy. It even plays Bourne Ultimatum from beginning to end (barely) without issue. You really have no choice as I doubt Toshiba would release any more updates.

haha. Are there problems with that movie or something? Yeah I don't think they are going to release anymore at this point.
