Toshiba HD-A1 Woes

Toshiba, according, to CNET is having some issues with its HDMI connection on the HD DVD player. I'm not sure how this translates into real-world operation, as I don't own a unit. I don't think this is a problem inherently limited to Toshiba, but definitely says something about HDMI in general.

I've read that some are having problems with it locking up hard requiring a re-boot to get it working again.

I read over at thedigitalbits.com that a lot of the issues with the units were being caused by the remote controls. The buttons are too sensitive or something causes commands to be sent multiple times which would cause the units to lock up in some instances. How long have remote controls been around?? I'm not sure how you manage to screw that one up.

I've just gotten on this week. I've had it two days, so far no trouble. Let me know if you want to know anything about it.

HDMI doesn't give me any trouble at all. It sorta looks just like it's telling me what's going on, not locking up or anything like that. When I plug out the cable to my TV, it says "HDMI Error 1" and when I look in the manual it says "no HDMI detected", so it seems pretty simple to me (?)

I like it so far. Impressive picture, tho the remote is kind of cludgy. Only have one disc, Last Samurai, which my guy here gave me with the player.
