I have this DR5 upconverting player/recorder and it aggravates me that when I power up, I have to wait for about a minute for the durned thing to boot up before I can get it to respond to my pushing the button to get the door to open. Why can't they make one that opens the door right away? Do the HD ones have this same quirk?

Seriously, I have no life.

These are nothing but a computer. How long before your computer boots up?
Yes, the HD are probably more so as they have more computing power and programs to load?

Slow load times was a major complaint with the early models but I've heard the next generation is a lot better. Just think, by the time they get them to be responsive, we'll be on to the next format and will start the issues all again. ;)

I don't have to wait for my computer to boot up to open the CD tray, it opens right away and the DVD players ought to be engineered similarly, I suppose the expensive ones are I would hope.
