Denon 4308... for south of $1400

I thought I knew a lot about HT... until I started trolling these threads. I've read quite a bit about Separate Amplifiers on the forums (I know of them, but I've never sold or worked closely with them) And I'm wondering If I want to go "All Out" meaning $5k-7k for Audio (including accessories, cables, speakers, amp?/rec... pretty much everything thats not a content source or my Picture) Should I shop around and get more info on building a system using integrated Amplifier Receivers, or should I snag this Denon at this price while I can?

And this is going to be a 6-12 month project, so the Rec. would be my first purchase.

I think the 3808 sells for around $1100 if you can find a good deal. The 4308 at $1400 should be about right.

Any thoughts of that Rec @ that price VS separates?

at $1400 it's ridiculous. no way separates at that price.
The only thing I can think of is the upcoming Emotiva HDMI 1.3 Pre-pro. It's supposed to have the next gen codec for $699. For about $500 more, you can get a used Rotel 5 channel Amp. That'll bring you closer to the $13-1400 mark.

But I agree, the Denon is a good choice here. Also, consider the Onkyo 875.

Would any of you guys be so generous to point me in the direction of the Denon deals. I have called around/emailed and not found anything close to this good.

I currently own a 3805 (bought new after lots of research here from years ago). I am now setting up a second system and have decided on the 3808(I think).

Thanks,
Bill

The closest you can get to that price for a 4308 (that I've found at least) is eBay for $1800+tax. I am employed with a company that does business with Denon, which allows me to get ONE Denon Rec. a year at $1400 tax included. A 3808 should probably run you about $1200-$1300 If you shop around online.

That's high mid priced unit with good amplifiers. Unless you have speakers that are very difficult drive or an unusually large room, the receiver's amplification will be overkill.

I don't have the speakers yet... I'm considering a few different towers.

Deftech 7002s (not too sure on these, considering I want separate subs)
Vienna Mozarts
B&W CM7s

These are the only towers I've auditioned (and liked)in my soon-to-be Price Range (1.5k-2k "retail" :) ). Any suggestions on comparable ones?

I'm only gonna drop $1500 total for my SL,SR,CC and Subs.
