Seriously, I have no life.
I'll be selling my ProJect Debut Carbon Evo.
It has an almost new (last month!) Ortofon Blue stylus. I paid around $500 for it in December 2023. Amazon still has that model for $649, but with an inferior cart. I still have original box and papers, etc. It was TLS Guy's suggestion that I sell it with the Blue to fetch higher $$.
I bought an Ortofon Black for the Thorens. I am only a little nervous about the Thorens shipping. I hope the guy knew to remove the platter and belt, etc.
I would contact the seller to make sure the platter is removed- I saw a Thorens that had scrapes and scuffs because it was shipped with the latter in place. If it arrives damaged, refuse it- shake the box and if you hear loose parts, it's not good. Or, make sure to be there when it arrives. The option is to request a change of address/have the seller change the destination to a local place that accepts shipments, like UPS store or FedEx/Kinkos. If they'll do that, open in before leaving the place so they can witness the damage as it's being opened. If they won't change the dropoff address and it arrives with damage without you being able to accept it, contact the seller so they can file a hidden damage claim. That assumes proper packing and not removing the latter will likely be considered 'improper packing'.

If you bought this from an ebay listing or another site that protects the buyer, make sure to use that protection.

No, I will look into it though thank you
This is just one video showing how to bend Acrylic sheet with a heating strip but it can be heated from below- I haven't done this but a heat gun would probably work. If you buy the material, do a coupole of test bends.

Home Depot, Menards, Ace Hardware and other stores sell sheet plastic- it wouldn't need to be thicker than 1/8"-3/32" thick.

Lots of other videos showing how to bond the edges and special cement is available for Acrylic- the links I posted for the fabrication companies, as well as Midland Plastics sell this cement. If you think a heating strip is something you might use in the future, Midland Plastics sells those, too. Midland has a location here and I go there when I need various types of plastic materials. They do fabrication, too.

If they didn't place some kind of padding between the platter and dust cover, I can almost guarantee it will be damaged unless the platter and suspension can be screwed down (turntables with supension usually had/have 'transport screws'.

BTW- if it does arrive in good condition and you proceed with the dust cover build, contact a local group of 'Makers'- they often have someone who can bend the Acrylic and join the corners. Look for Minneapolis Maker Spaces- here's one of the links I found.

I'm sure those are great and so is the q-up. But this post was never about those tonearm lifters. Just in case that's what you thought from the title. It was originally about the mechanism that lowers the tone arm onto the record.

Speaking of that AT6006R, if my Q-up doesn't work on my Thorens, I'll look into that one! It looks far and away better than the Q-Up, but the Q-Up has definitely served me well for years now without a hitch.

Seems the seller goes the extra mile in packaging. And there are multiple turntables. Most of the feedback mentions the over-the-top packing. I am a little less nervous.

I know of a plastics shop about 8 miles north of me. I may be able to buy 5 precision-cut pieces. Then I could learn how to assemble it. Or maybe they do that too or know someone who does. The tt supposedly arrives Thursday now.
The shops I remember had all the necessary gear on site to make a complete cover. You'd have to add necessary hinges or rubber pieces on the lid, tho. I do remember the one fairly close to me that I used for a couple different projects closed up many years ago, think I saw later that they closed several stores. Good luck!

Thx. Obviously that'll be after I get it up to snuff. Hopefully I can get it over to TLS Guy's place this weekend if it works out with him.

What, you can't setup a tt yet?
Oh sure. But he restored one just like it. He knows about the suspension of the thing, the tonearm, the whole shootin' match. That ortofon Black may need precise angles I don't know about. I can set tracking weight, but that anti-skate weight he'd know what notch to hang it from. Plus it probably needs damping fluid, about which I'm like Sgt. Schultz. I think he said he has spindle oil. I'd be surprised if he didn't. I could learn a thing or two about the machine from him. Hopefully he has time this weekend. The cartridge came in today. I ordered it mounted because I really like the Ortofon headshell and it will save time in setting things up. I need to make sure Ortofon mounted it correctly. I have a protractor. @TLS Guy still uses a protractor he made when he was something like eight years old.

Just be mindful of the transport, especially if on your motorcycle! :) I can't imagine taking a turntable to someone else for setup otoh.

Oh absolutely. I'd take the platter off even going a few miles or at least take the belt off the motor but in order to do that you remove the platter, so why put it back on? The only thing I'd have to do once I got it back home is level it. Oh and the anti skate weight. You wouldn't want that swinging in the breeze, either. And when I say breeze, I don't mean on my motorcycle.

You just need to setup a tt for transport appropriately. I still envision a mad dash with it strapped to your motorcycle seat....but TLS's ability to do something extraordinary, nah.

I will come to you. There is no point in setting it up here and then transporting it to Apple Valley.

I can do it Saturday, but not Sunday, as we have family members coming over.

You can not use damping fluid yet. I was going to talk to you about that when I know the unit is OK. The damping is a really good move. You will need the bath, paddle and the silicone fluid. There are still some available on line.

The Thorens turntable arrived safe and sound. Unbelievable packaging. Nothing was going to move underneath that dust cover. I'm sure I'll be filling my trash can halfway with all the styrofoam, bubble wrap, cardboard, packaging tape, painters tape etc.

I got everything on order now. I even bought a tracking scale. I don't know enough about this tonearm yet, but I don't see increments so it seems one would be needed. I am not interested in hooking it up until Mark gets it up to snuff.

Increments don't matter if you have a scale.
