Toms Hardware reviews HDMI Switches

$200 for a four port switch? That seems a bit much considering HDMI switching recievers are nearing the $300 mark.

$3,000 for the Anchor Bay? That's a hefty sum. Yes, it also incorporates a scaler but my Yamaha 2700 reciever has more of every input (except one less HDMI) and includes an AnchorBay scaler chip. That's not to mention it's a full fledged receiver and it retails for almost half as much.

I wonder how one of the inexpensive monoprice HDMI switcher would fair in the testing?

The DVDO VP50 is a state of the are outboard video scaler. This would typically be used by someone with a >$10k front projection setup who wants the performance and configurability of a video scaler and is willing to pay for it.

The ABT chip in your Yamaha rates below a lot of upscaling DVD players let alone a hight end video scaler like the VP50. With that kind of money, however, I would consider upgrading the source to HD vs. a high end video scaler.
