We get to sit down with our realtor and list our house on the market. I have two rooms that need painting plus the deck plus some landscaping that I've been slacking on. We are also going to get some things in storage to open up some floor space to show off the sq/ft as our house is one of the bigger homes in the neighborhood. The only thing I wish we could do is new flooring but that just isn't going to happen without a remortgage.

Ought to be?! :p I AM interesting. ;)

Good luck with the sale, Matt. Kind of a tough time to be selling...be patient. Where to next?

Shucks, RJ beat me to it. I had a whole different comment lined up. :D

Best of luck, Matt! Do you know where you're moving to, yet (perhaps that was in another thread)?

Don't know when or exactly where yet but I thought we would get a start on it now. Most likely I'm going to Virgina late summer/early fall.

Virginia? Wow. I thought that you were going to Yuma. I think that I'd prefer Virginia, though. Yuma is just too darn hot. :)

We'll have to get together for lunch or something before you take off.

I tried to get Yuma but there aren't any Army positions available for me. Marines and Navy are running the program I was trying for. Virginia is all based on my NOT getting promoted here at the end of the month. If I do happen to make it I don't really have a clue where I'll be going.

Yes we do.

Anything south of Colorado is too darn hot. Yuma, isn't that Spanish for hell?

Matt,

The closer you get to God's country (RI :)), the happier you'll be. ;)

I've grown accustom to the dry heat.

That is what my wife keeps telling me, she grew up on the east coast.:D

Matt, being a native of AZ for te past 28 years (spent 15 of those in Tucson) and also being a Navy Brat, I have lived all over Virginia for 12 years. Richmond, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Fairfax and Annandale. I can tell you that the winters suck the big one in VA, yeah they say it snowed 8 inches but the snow drifts are four feet up against your garage door. The summers are nice but humid. Love the beaches and Busch Garden in Williamsburg (Friggin Oktoberfest in little Germany with those huge honking beer mugs and braut dogs are the best) if you have kids they will love Kings Dominion (Hanna Barbara). VA has far more better stuff to do and Wash DC is close by (Simthsonian is a must visit). Way more stuff to do back east, but the weather sucks. Eat as much mexican food as you can before you move, cause back east, their version of Mexican is Taco Bell.

Good luck on the sale Matt.
From what I understand, while the housing market sucks everywhere, it really really sucks down your way.
While we haven't had our place appraised; our feeling is that we would be lucky to get a few thousand over what we paid for it 5-1/2 years ago up here.

The meeting with the realtor went well and looks like we shouldn't have a problem making some money on the house. We have some things to get done as I said before but our plan is to get it listed around the 1st of next month.

Our market isn't that bad, in fact Sierra Vista rated the number one city in Arizona for the biggest growth in the housing market(up 7%), a suburb in Phoenix got last.
