This is my favorite "feel good" movie of the week. Aasif Mandvi, who you may have seen on the John Stewart show, is a sous chef with non-Indian high cuisine aspirations who, due to unexpected circumstances, finds himself running the family's small, failing Tandoor restaurant. Family complications, finding a girlfriend and a magical chef change his world. It's an entirely predictable plot line, but the cast of eccentric characters are great, the laughs really pick up in the second half and I would defy you to not enjoy it. It would be good as a date movie especially if you enjoy a rich Korma. I hadn't heard if it 'till I got to our local art house, but was surprised to see the theater completely fill up with an audience that applauded at the end.
