I have no idea yet what the price will be but today's (Sunday 8/7/2011) 10am-PDT Lightning Deal is Sennheiser's HD600 headphones. The deal is only good from 10am (PDT) to 12 noon or until they run out so there was no time to wait for the deal forum to let members know about this. Not all of their "Lightning Deals" are huge bargains but the really great deals sell out fast.

I own a pair of these from my condo living days and they're wonderful headphones but please note that HD600s require a lot of power and that your iPod isn't going to drive them. Most receiver headphone jacks will do a good job driving them but a dedicated headphone amp is probably a good idea.

Here's their non-sale page with lots of reviews.

And if you're too slow for that deal, no worries - you can save over 75% on a Monster Power Center afterwards. :D

42% claimed but I'm just barely managing to keep that credit card in my wallet . . . . Of course, I just bought the Beyerdynamic DT880 around a week ago; I need some help in rationalizing why I need the Sennheisers so soon after buying the Beyers, hehe.

Because they are on sale. Don't think of it as spending money; think of it as saving money...and we all know that we should save more money. :D

Music isn't about what you need, it's about what you want. ;)

lol, I appreciate your advice but I'm going to head out and get some lunch. I'm not coming back until this sale is over . . . . cuz I really really really want to take my credit card out of my wallet.

Currently have Fostex T20RP headphones in the living room which I rarely use. The foam is starting to disintegrate and I'm considering a replacement.
Originals once costed me $10 (used) B&H has new ones for $65 shipped.
Amazon has Senh HD 515 for $50 - looks like a good option for me (none-critical and rare usage)

Not me - I resisted. I have desktop speakers to build and I don't need headphones cutting into my budget. :)

Yeah, but wouldn't a second set be great? After all, you've got two ears, don't you? Wait a second, something's wrong with that...
I already have enough audio gear to get rid of. A good 1/2 dozen pairs of speakers that I'm not using, 2 old receivers, 3-4 sets of computer speakers and an old DVD/SACD/DVD-A player. I don't need anymore gear!

As soon as I start feeling industrious I'm going to start taking pictures and list it all.

You sound like me. :)

I've got pretty much a full HT in boxes that I still need to get rid of that is taking up about half of our extra bedroom. Wife = cranky. Good thing I didn't buy headphones today.

I suppose I've taken pictures though...so I am that much closer.

Sounds to me like your extra home theater is both misnamed and only half full. ;)

May I ask you a question? How do these sound with pipe organ on the bottom octaves _ where the big pipes shake your seat in church?
