Today commemorates 80 years since the end of WW II and Germany's unconditional surrender.
Jonathon and Tom Scott have released a moving tribute with Jonathon playing the theme from Holt's Jupiter from his Planets suite.
The planets were written just before WW 1 and the terrifying music of Mars the Bringer of War, foretold the absolute horrors of mechanized war. The theme from Jupiter Holst called Thaxted after a village in NW Essex he lived in for 8 years. In 1921 Cecil Spring Rice wrote the hymn "I Vow to Thee my Country.
Jonathan Scott plays the Binns (Battleship Binns as he was known) organ in Rochdale Town Hall. Tom as usual does an artistic job of the video. This is a very powerful remembrance tribute and the sound is magnificent.
