To dual or not to dual

Hey all,
I'm picking out a new/smaller/better sub in the next couple days. I'm looking at getting an ML Dynamo or 2 Mirage Omnisub S8's. I don't need tear down the walls loud, just an extension to my bookshelves. Would I be better off with 1 better quality sub or 2 decent, but lesser subs? Also, just to throw another curve, would it be worth stepping up the the ML Abyss? It's within the budget but I'd have to forgo a couple other things I've been wanting to do (like DIY speaker cables). As always, all feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Mike,

There are pros and cons to both single large vs dual smaller subs approach.

The single large, will give you better extension at the expense of smooth FR in fewer locations when compated to the dual sub option.

Here is the article that articulates much better than I can via this post...

Is this for HT or Music? I personally like duel subs. Sounds a lot more even and full. Im purchasing my 2nd sub in the next month.

I'm thinking for doing the same thing buying a second velodyne spl 1000. For a HT would you put one in the back of the room and one in the front or both up front.

Thank you folks for the feedback. I picked up a single ML Dynamo yesterday. I'll probably pick up a second one in the next few months. I think this will serve me very well even if I don't get the second one. Thanks again.
