To AV Synch or Not?

Hello,
I see a lot of receivers/pres have an av synch. I don't have one on my Denon 3801 but am upgrading this week to something else...
I am curious if this is really an important feature. I have lived a long time without it and one of the units I am looking at (Sherbourn Pre PT-7010A) does not have it, though it has some other features I am interested in. Any thoughts on the AV synch. Who uses it and how well does it work?

I find it very helpful, and if I didn't have it, sync issues would s**t me to tears. Now and then I find a movie that I need to adjust the sync more than usual, but mostly it's set to what I've find appropriate and I forget about it until that odd movie comes along.

I believe it's a must have if you have a projector and probably for many other types of displays also. Personally I wouldn't buy a receiver without it.

cheers:)

What happens when...?

How does it work for things like Xbox 360 and PS3. If your doing alot of processing of the picture to the point it's delayed from the audio. Then you add delay to the sound; most recievers with this option have up to 200ms or just under a quarter of a second(just fine for HT ages in a game). Using a game system I could see controller inputs being way late(instant death in HALO). Does Xbox have a controller delay or some other work around?
