I found the sound on this DVD strange, it seemed the entire mixing was very quiet compared to other movies.

The movie is split onto two discs, and the effects on the second disk are mind boggling compared to the original DVD release.

The picture quality is top notch as well,
I think that second disk will prove to be a good demo for people's home theatres.

I'd like to see someone run this disc through some software to see where the lower frequencies hit. A good chunk of these effects have to be hanging in the 20-40hz region constantly.

Did you compare it to the original at all? I remember when the first release came out, there was quite a bit of talk about it and how dynamic the soundtrack was. I have to say, I have not watched it since I bought it, and certainly not interested in double dipping on that one just for the ES track as such.

It just means the audio engineer mixed it a little lower than some other movies. SW: Episode 1 is similar, overall level is quite low, but very well mixed.

The movie is not woth double dipping, I agree. i will rent it though and copy it. I tend to start watching that movie half way through when the boat starts to sink. Not interested in the sappy love story.

Double dipping? What the heck are you guys talking about??!!

The first transfer wasn't even anamorphic!!! When you have a widescreen display, going from widescreen to anamorphic widescreen is certainly well worth the price in my opinion. Upgrade for the video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The movie itself is not worth buying again just to have a better DTS soundtrack IMO. As for the video, the DVD I have is just fine. it has sat in my cabinet since the day i bought it so when we say we won't double dip, it means it's not worth buying even if it is improved. The movie blows to be honest. Too long, too much love story.

Although I like to check out DVDs people recommend for superb sound, i have to say the movie has to be worth watching to waste my 2 hours. Sin City is a prime example. I read so many things here how great it was. The sound was top notch, the women were top notch, but the movie was brutal. Stupid. wanted 2 hours of my life back. But that's what's so great about burning movies. You don't waste $25, just a buck for a blank DVD-R. My time however is a different matter.

The sound and video were both remastered for this edition, whether you like the movie or not, it blows the original DVD away.

As mentioned it is actually an anamorphic representation where the original was not. The DTS ES is much cleaner than the original 5.1 mix.

And Even a ripped copy sacrifices video quality unless you are spanning across two discs.

Most movies I say who cares, but for a movie with a good video bit rate and audio you can't beat the DVD copy.

Dezoris......i think you are missing our point. Titanic is not worth dropping another $25 on for this improvement, no matter how good the improvement is. I am sure the new mix is much better. The movie isn't that good to double dip for.
