WATERTOWN, N.Y. — John W. Rice, 19, of Sackets Harbor, was charged Sunday morning with third-degree burglary, body stealing and cemetery desecration, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

It is alleged he entered a mausoleum in Brookside Cemetery in the town of Watertown, broke into a sealed vault and stole a human skull from the coffin of Sallie Normander sometime in September. Ms. Normander is believed to have died in 1821.

Detectives said he has no idea what motivated Mr. Rice in the alleged crime because he has not been willing to talk.

Must be Halloween time, seems the necrophiles and ghouls are up to their shennanigans. The only thing we know fo certain is that this will be blamed on the commie-liberals somehow.

No, not Halloween

The skull was actually taken in September. I see where Mr. Rice gave an interview which was printed in the Watertown Daily Times. It was an attempt to whitewash him and his alledged crime. It actually was a rather stupid response, though, since it stated that the head was pulled out of the casket and then fell to the floor, so the perps then thought they should just take it rather than let it stay on the floor. Errrr, why not just replace the head at that time?

But anyway, anyone who does something like to begin with is, in my opinion, mentally deranged. The attempt to explain it away failed miserably, to all thinking persons.
