Well finally got some pictures takin of my livingroom setup. Lovin what i've got! Made the acustical panels on the two rear walls (2' x 4'). Really like what they did to the overall sound in the room. Highly recommended!

Future upgrades will be a new reciever or Pre-pro so I can add some needed power to the B&Ws. Denon 889 doesnt have pre-outs, bummer. Thinkin emotiva....Then prob some new subs. Maybe a HSU ULS-15 up front with a HSU MBM behind the couch. That should do it!

Any comments & suggestions are welcome. Its cool i can take a punch too...haha.

Everyone elses systems look really awesome too! Happy listening!!!

I like that set up too.

I'm pretty sure that Grotto outclasses the B&W and I would try to do some sort of comparison with and without the B&W. I know it can be difficult as you would have to boost the gains on the Grotto when you disconnect the B&W but the conventional wisdom says that they are not going to play well together. Then again there is always the exception to the rule.

What did you use for the sound panels?

My first suggestion would be to enjoy!

My second suggestion would be to disconnect the B&W sub and then play with the location of the grotto and see what it can do by itself.

My third suggestion would be to enjoy!

Thanks for the compliments!
Its funny you both mention the Grotto & the AS2. It is very true that the Grotto is a much better sub than the B&W. I was given the AS2 from a good friend for free. I purchased the Grotto from the same friend about a year or two later for $250.

I have a wall outlet behind the couch that is hooked up to a light switch in the room. I keep the B&W AS2 hooked up to that outlet so i just hit the switch on the wall & it turns it on. I keep the Grotto on 100% of the time & only turn on the B&W for action movies. I kinda just acts like a tactile transducer & gives the couch that extra shake.

There isnt a big difference with or without the B&W. That Grotto does very well on its own. You guys are right on that.

I have tried every possible sub location & found this combo to be the best for sure. For music, hands down the Grotto does it right. For movies.....it also has the upper hand!

Now to do what you told me to do.....ENJOY!!!

Looks like a nice setup, but what the heck are those pictures of on the back wall? The one on the left looks like a profile of some kind of cat, but for the life of me I can't figure out what the one on the right is. It looks like a hummingbird or maybe a dolphin.

Nice setup. I too have the grotto and i think its great on its own, especially how well it blends with music.

Nice, clean installation. Great speaker placement too!

Hope you get your Emotiva for Christmas. Sure would make those B&W's come to life at higher volumes.

Thanks for taking time to share some pictures.

Well done.

Hahaha thats funny you mention the pictures!

My wife sketches & as a kinda funny artsy thing she drew those two. You were right on the profile of the cat. The other is a funky little fish. She dubbed the two pics "TheBattle"...Fish vs.Cat. Those pics are moving to another area in the room so we can put up heavy drapes where the pics are now. This way we can close off the theater area from the back game room (for both light & sound).
Combined with the plush furniture, carpeting & panels by rear speakers, the room acoustics are a lot better than they used to be...but thats another topic for discussion.

Here are a few more pics of both the theater area & game room...& my pup Emmy. Sorry, had to do it! :)
Not shown in pics is a 26" Sony Bravia LCD right near pool table. (paid $1000 for it bout 4+ years ago, crazy how prices change)

Looks great, very stylish room.

Much difficulty using mismatched subs?

No its not too bad. Plus i dont use the B&W AS2 all the time, just when i want an extra kick in the butt for movies.
The Grotto is always on & always sounds incredible, specially for a 10". Clean down to 20hz in room response. Could definately have more in the dB department but thats because i have a very large area to fill when including all the room suck-outs.
Thanks for all the compliments they are much appreciated!
