Wow...that clarifies it.
Really, it seems like every time travel movie has its own logic about what or whether you can change the future or the past, the size and consequence of the changes you can make and little things you can do that DON'T make any difference. I guess it would spoil things for the script writers if anybody did invent a time travel machine and we found out just what the rules are.
