It's quite common that when I am reading "New Posts", especially if it's once a day or I have posts I respond to that require some thought, that I get "timed out". By this I mean I lose the "go to first unread post" function and the thread names become opaque. Losing the "go to first unread post" is the more troublesome because it takes that much longer to go through the day's posts or I feel pressured to respond quickly to a post so I don't "time out"

Is there anyway to get around this?

That happens to me sometimes too. I open threads I want to read or respond to in another window. If I do that but then go back to the 'new posts' window and open another thread, the first one will lose the 'view first unread' link.

I believe it has to do with the expiration time of cookies but haven't been bothered enough by it to really investigate. Besides, if that is the reason the admin would have to change the cookie expiration rules so there is nothing I could do about it anyway.

Cookie exiration rules, that seems a likely explination. I am not a techie, but does having lots of active member sessions going on at the same time take that much extra system rescourses? A hour before a session ends would make a huge difference to me.

If it's sometime I really want to take my time with, I too will open a second unique AudioHolics session and leave it open to the post in question and I go back to it later. I have not tried opening a third session. It's a pain in any case. Maybe it has something to do with the AH system resources.
