Time for a big boy home theatre

Hi all,
Like a lot of previous posts, I'm looking to get away from the HTIB setup and build a good sound system.

I've read a number of the posts and some are similar to mine and I've looked into the various options in my budget of about $1,500 for speakers and receiver. Now I need some final advice.

My living room is about 14' long by 12' wide and 9' ceilings with an open floor plan to the right. I sit about 12' away from my 60' Samsung 4K LED (can't remember the model right now). I have PS3&4 I use to game and play blu-rays & music.

I think I've narrowed the receiver down to either an Onkyo TXNR646, Pioneer VSX1130-K, or Denon AVR-S910W. Which do you guys think would be the best bang for the buck? They're all on sale for around $550 right now and regularly about $800.

For speakers I was looking at the Pioneer SP-PK52FS 5.0 home theatre package with a BIC PL200 sub, Klipsch Synergy 50 package again with BIC PL200 or the JBL 5.1 Home theatre system (2-Loft 50, 2-Loft 30, Loft 20, and SP150 10" sub). Either setup is about $900-1,000 right now (depending on where I get it and shipping etc).

Are there others in the same price range I should be looking at? I'm in Canada so some places don't ship up here. I hear Klipsch is starting to slip and am not sure about Polk Audio or Fluance - which the guy at Best Buy says is really good. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.

Hi!

Looks like you've already done your research, so I'll just add my 2 cents:

I've owned a couple Denon Receivers, and always enjoyed them. So, my bias is Denon. Haven't touched a Pioneer in a decade, due to confusing set up and controls (surely thats changed), and Onkyo I have always been weary of their build quality.

Have heard that Pioneer package, individually, as a 2.0 system (both bs and fs) and have heard a number of Klipschs'. Yes the Klipsch is prettier, but I guarantee you the Pioneer will sound better!

The BIC subwoofer is crap, however, and that is going to be where next upgrade happens! Think about it, a subwoofer should have an amp, a big magnet, and a sturdy box; a good sub costs money! Enjoy the BIC for a while, and then when you've got another grand to spend, discover what you've been missing!

I agree with TheWarrior, if you are on a tight budget the BIC's okay otherwise try to get a SVS SB1000. Their Canadian distributor is very nice to deal with, very fair exchange rated and offers free shipping within Canada. Since you pick the SP-PK52FS, I assume you are in Vancouver so good thing Sonicboomaudio (in Toronto) does offer free shipping within Canada. They probably have a warehouse in all major cities.

Take a look of the SVS speakers too but I think they will cost more than the PK52FS.
