Tightening Logitech Z-5500 bass

I recently bought the Logitech Z-5500 system and have been rather impressed with it. I love the power of the system and the subwoofer is also extremely powerful.

However, the bass also sounds very spread out, sometimes to the point that it almost sounds muffled. This kind of ambience is perfect for my videogaming experience, but not so much for when I want to listen to some tunes.

My question is this: Is there a viable way for me to cheaply (and safely; I'm no speaker technician by any stretch of the imagination) tighten and focus the Z-5500's bass?
