OK, so I'm getting a new receiver and I think I will probably be getting a Denon 3806. . . BUT, I haven't completely gotten the ONKYO 803 or 901 out of my mind since it has the mysterious "THX" certification and I've had good experience with that brand. I am wondering just what kind of difference the THX cert would make between the Denon and Onkyo performance-wise. I have read the Audioholics explanation for THX and still am left not knowing. What do you all think about the differences and the value of the THX certs. I have read great reviews of the Denon, but there are far fewer reviews of the Onkyo so I don't really have any good way to make a determination of that. Any opinions or better yet knowledge would be great!

If you find the THX features useful to you, you need to get it. The THX web site will explain all the part in a THX amp. You get a certain level of performance with this certification. If you don't need the THX features, you can certainly see such an amps secs and you can look for non-certified ones with similar specs, hopefully confirmed by outside measurements, maybe this site? Both are great amps and companies.
