No its not the same sub, it's a gen 2. Not sure that the driver is different though. There are a few "budget subs" that compete with it. What are you expecting out of it?

I read some comments about the "revised" version a while back and came away with the impression they were more cosmetic than a real re-design. Been a while, tho. It should be close enough.

You should use that site, it is literally (only really) the best 3rd party site for sub testing out there. Josh Ricci is the man. There's a lot to learn there, good articles as to how subs are measured and what those measurements mean, more tests/results than you'll see from any manufacturer plus his perspective having sampled (and built) so many. ps It's probably a decent entry level sub, especially if you get a significant discount on it to boot which I think is fairly easily done.

Seems like they
Changed the port location or something too, and maybe added a small percentage of volume. Like maybe.25cuft or less. Iirc, the performance was identical.

They're not too specific here, something about port flare bla bla, and more bracing (and since the box is nearly identical, W 1/8" more, there's maybe less volume), maybe a different driver....who knows.
