You save a ton buying online vs. going to best buy and dealing with thier lame knowledge, but my questions is are there any issues ordering an HDTV online? Such as damage to TV, calibration issues, warranty, time to ship and return issues?
Does Best Buy ever match Amazon's prices?

Any thoughts are welcome. I just want to save as much as I can to maximize that amount I can spend.

thanks.

I've only done it once, but there were no issues whatsoever, and it took less than a week to arrive. I didn't need to return it, but I have not had problems with returning largish items to Amazon.com in the past.

I recently bought my 73" Mistsubishi DLP from Amazon.com and couldn't be more pleaed with how everything went. From the time I ordered it to the time I received it was 6 days. The delivery company unboxed it, set it on the stand, and plugged it in to make sure it powered on ok, then they hauled off the box it came in. The tv has been fine so far, and still carries the full factory warranty since I purchased from an authorized online dealer. I saved hundreds of dollars, plus since the price had dropped within 30 days of my purchase, Amazon has credited the differnce back to my card (you have to email the refund request to them, they don't do it automatically), so I saved an additional $85 a month after the purchase. If the tv comes damaged, just refuse to accept the delivery and it will be returned. Best buy won't match online prices, I don't think any b&m stores really do that.

Another positive Amazon HDTV buyer here. No problems at all. The delivery man helped me unpack it and put it on the stand (I kept the box so I could pack it again as I move very frequently). Amazon also has a pretty good return policy, and they usually sell their HDTVs as an authorized retailer, so it'll stay under the manufacturer's warranty.

Have no worries about buying from them.

selection can be an issue with certian lines, just make sure you understand how it will be shipped, ltl shipments have a high rate of damage, and if you get one inspect it completly, as you will more than likely be dealing with the shipper after its delivered.

I'd be wary of buying any TV that wasn't shipped strapped to a pallet in a proper manner.

I have only purchased one TV from Amazon, a Samsung 32 inch LCD for my son's room. No complaints although the free shipping was a bit slow.

My co-workers have bought 3 TV's from Amazon. Zero problems. They got the free shipping, and the white glove delivery.

What I've done is, google'd for the TV model I wanted. Then search for the best internet price that I could find from a Internet Direct company based in my city. Then I called that company, and asked if that TV was available for local pickup. Luckily it was. So then I took my information to Ultimate Electronic's. Told them I had a local B&M store that had a TV at the cheaper price. They called the store to verify, it was verified, and price matched + 10%. My father in-law ended up with a 65" 1080p RPTV Mitsubishi for very cheap.

At times I'm glad I live in a big city.

YMMV
