I can't comment on the quality on one vs. the other, are you looking to have Parts put the sub together for you, or put it together for yourself?

I considered this when I was buying a sub, putting it together for myself; and then thought twice about it... I'd hate to put it all together and have a so,so sub... so I bought an SVS; I also considered the STF-2

I'd buy the STF-2. That way if it doesn't work you can tae it back. the DIY sub if it doesn't work, you have to disassemble it and rebuild it to make sure you built it right, then try to determine what part is broken, then argue with someone that it was broken before you maybe broke it trying to build it, blah blah blah

Less hassle = worth paying more money.
