Rented the movie Sound of Thunder last night. This movie has alot of deep bass throughout the whole movie. It will defintely give your sub a workout.

Yes, I watched that a couple of weeks ago and was surprised that it had a decent bass soundtrack. I'm not sure I'd agree on some of their theories about time travel though, especially about the fact they could go back to the same point in time and kill the same dinosaur again and again without bumping into themselves or the other clients:rolleyes:

cheers:)

I recommend you buy a disc of test tones instead. You'll still have the bass but you won't have to suffer thru another crappy movie.;)

He might as well buy a tone generator. It'll give him the bass, and a better film.

For a TON of LFE, try THE HAUNTING (DreamWorks' DTS ES SIGNATURE SELECTION version only) and the remake of WAR OF THE WORLDS (DreamWorks, DTS).....both will shake your room apart and damage your sub(s) if your system is up too high.....

Saving Private Ryan: DTS
Just about THE best example of surround channel usage and aggressiveness in a 5.1 setup, but, not THE best example of LFE usage on DVD -- trust me, leave that to THE HAUNTING....;)

I have the Signature Series of The Haunting :D It only has a few scenes where it really shines, but it is definitely a well mixed disc (The first DTS-ES title ever).

Check out Darkness Falls - some very good surround mixing done on that movie too, though the movie is just average, IMO.

We recently broke out SPR: DTS and it has more LFE than I remembered. Not the best, but plenty ;)

More LFE: Titan AE DTS - ice field scene, BladeII DTS-ES - opening scenes, Jin Roh:SE (Japanese full bitrate DTS), U-571 DTS - both depth charge scenes, Master & Commander DTS - cannons, etc... (See the movies below 20hz thread...)

Yes, it was the first DTS ES title ever, and there are more than just a few scenes that really "shine"....any time Hill House's doors slam shut, hold on....

....yes, during that D Day sequence on Omaha Beach, there are plenty wallops of LFE, but this is by no means an "LFE reference" title.

Check out the chapter "The Alamo" - that chapter was on one of the DTS demo discs (in full bitrate I think). Some good bass, good use of surrounds.

With The Haunting, IMO the two scenes that stood out were "Coming mother..." and the other scene where he is after Nell.

I have heard about The Alamo....made it to Home Theater Magazine's top audio demos of 2005....

Indeed.....any ANY scene that featured the slamming of Hill House's doors....wow did that ROCK my sub.....

When I fired up that movie with my current sub, it was literally jaw dropping. The content on the Coming mother scene literally scared me (and I knew it was coming...)

The Haunting's DTS ES track is indeed jaw dropping.....probably the best usage of the .1 LFE channel (this side of the War of the Worlds remake from DreamWorks in DTS) in the history of home theater. ;)

I agree completely, I would much rather listen to a DVD of Test tones than to watch that craptacular waste of film called A sound of thunder., IT was one of the worst sci fi films I have seen.
