Thinking of upgrading my Denon 2805 to a 3806 or...

...something a little better than what I have. Does anyone have any real world experience with the differences between these two units, or other viable options?

I had a 2802 for a month before I got the 2805 and there was a difference in performance and it has better features. Is there a noticeable (not neccessarily huge) between the 2805 and 3806, or is it mainly better features?

I'm not in a huge rush and would probably get a refurbished unit from Ubid.

Thanks
Jack

I am not fluent in these units but, what are you missing from that 2805 that you are looking for an upgrade?
Does that 3806 have features you really need? That is about what that would have, new features that one would need, hopefully.

I think your biggest gain going to the 3806 would be more in the amplifier section than anything else, perhaps some smaller gains in features and if HDMI is a concern you'd gain there. Perhaps you'd be better served in just adding an external amplifier to your 2805 ?

I've been thinking about adding a few refurbished Audiosource Amp One/a's to the fronts for a little cleaner sound. I was in a local shop the other day and the guys there (including a Denon rep) said that I would get the same sound as doing that as I would get from just upgrading. Plus I would get hdmi which I will eventually want. The multiQ feature sounds nice also.

When I bought my current reciever, I kinda had in my mind that I would eventually put it in my bedroom when I upgrade. I'm in no rush at this point and am simply keeping my options open. I may just buy the amps I mentioned If I see them cheap at Ubid. Even If I upgrade later, I can always use them for different zones.
