Thinking of buying the Epik Conquest

Well due to the recent slaying of my Velo I've been considering subs of course. I plan to get the Velo back up and running, but a bad case of upgraditis has attacked me recently and I've been thinking of where I want to go with this.

I sent off an email to Epik to inquire about shipping to Canada, but I just wanted to get some thoughts on this product before I go through with this.

Also, when I get the Velo fixed do believe it will be possible to run both subs together or would the enclosed servo clash with the ported conquest?

Good luck on getting a response to your email. They never responded to any of mine...

I sent three or four emails inquiring about the Conquest and Tower subs about the time I was also considering the Ultra. Epik was the new kid on the block at the time. It made me a little uncomfortable buying from them. They are trying to change their look, so maybe things are better now.

Yes I agree and thats what im worried about also because its a relatively newer company . I sure like the conquest though and is real tempting ;)

Before you get too firmly rooted in this position, you may want to check out this thread on AVS. Although I understand your comment, there are no easy answers to these types of questions.;)
i'll check that out.

i have personally tried using different subs though and the only time i could make them work together was to change the range of frequencies they are playing. and that's with dual OSD measurements. (SMS-1 + DD18 SMS)

of course, there will always be exceptions to the rule, but it's just plain a freakin nightmare trying to run two different subs without an OSD to check out the room interaction. *hard enough with one.

especially a ported + sealed config.

I'm giving the ported/sealed combo a try right now, so far it's working out ok but I need a DCX 2496 for better integration. The SMS-1 just doesn't have the capabilities I need.

Thanks rmk, thats some good reading on that link. And something to be aware of. From my understanding of what I read there so far, one of the big issues of having more then one sub is the phase alignment. In any case, back to reading that entire link.

two same subs will have phase issues ... in some areas
two different subs with different low end slopes will have more phase issues :)

again, measurement of the room FR is key. REW or SMS-1, i wouldn't recommend it.

both full LFE range or separate bands of FR?

Got an E-mail back from Epik today. Basically, shipping to Canada is a no go.

Unforuntately, we do not ship outside the US at this time. The reason for this is that we can't support or guarantee warranty for product in another country or continent. If a component in your subwoofer needs to be replaced, it may cost more to ship it to you than the subwoofer itself costs. We have shipped worldwide in the past and incurred considerable problems with brokerage and fees. We hope to change this as soon as possible, but we're afraid, it will still be quite some time before we ship elsewhere.
Well it seems a little thin, I'm not asking for replacement parts. I'm asking for the damned sub :p

the new ED A7-450 is just as big as the Conquest - you might look into that, I know Mike wasn't impressed with the original model but they redid it recently. Or there is the Seaton Terraform and Terraform XL. The Terraform from my understanding has a 15" driver inside and an 18" passive radiator outside, that doubles with the XL, two 15s two 18s. I don't know what the price is, haven't had the courage to inquire yet :)
