Thinking of buying Paradigm Monitor 7 V5 towers. Similar speakers to consider?

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a pair of Monitor 7s and the matching speakers in the series.

I'm thinking:

Monitor 7 tower
CC-190 center
ADP-190 surround

I can get this setup for about $1000Can/$900US. I was wondering if there's any other 5.1 speaker line that you'd recommend me checking out that would give me a better sound for around that price?

I was in the same boat - I've been reading these forums for a long time and finally broke down and went to a dealer. I auditioned the 7s, the Studio 20s and 60s and the Definitive floorstanders. I really liked the 7s, particularly over definitive. It was hard to tell about the 20s and even the 60s because the dealer had them in separate rooms and the room with the 7s had much better acoustics. Facturing in price and the dealers upgrade policy, I went with the 7s and am quite happy - though I think you definitely will need a sub.

For the center I went with the 290 over the 190 - which I am actually getting set to pick up tomorrow. I compromised a little on the surrounds - went with the atoms.

Overall I am very happy with this set - it is my first real set up and I quite pleased - as is my wife - though she'd never admit it directly - good speakers for the price.

I am also looking at the paradigm speakers for my HT system. The setup that I'm wanting to get is the studio 20s for fronts, cc190 for center, adp 190 for surround, PDR-10 for sub and Denon 2807 (waiting for HDMI 1.3 in the new 2808 in the fall). The studio 20s is the question mark for me....can't bring myself to pay $900 for a pair of speakers, so I also considering the Monitor 7s or Titans.

Depending on the size of your room and budget, you may want to rethink the PDR-10.

AV123 floorstanders

Not sure about availability in Canada, but check out the AV123 X-MTM floorstander with the X-CS center and X-LS bookshelf speakers for surrounds. Don't forget you will need a sub for the ".1" in "5.1"
