Thinking about dual 15" DIY Rythmik. Anything better?

For some time now I have been planing on building two sealed 3+cf boxes and getting two 15" kits from rythmik. I have an abundance of MDF and the wood veneer would be about $110 + stain and finish. The rythmiks would be between 1,060 and 1,240.
My main concern is sound quality for music and good room response. I would say that its about 60% music and 40% theater. I still want decent lows for movies but don't need to shake the neighbors at 12hz and 120db. :) At this price range what else should I look at that would have the same or better sound quality?
The room is about 3,500CF with a barrel vault.
Thanks

Not a bad choice especially with the servo plate, although Tempest X2, LMS-Revo, SDX-15mkII, AV15x wont likely give up much if any sound quality! I would model all five sealed (well sdx aint even out yet)and see for myself what i can expect.

I think you need to weigh the technical aspects as well.

Two Rythmik kits include amps, drivers, single band eq, and box plans all in one package...the DIY aspect of building the boxes will be the same...the setup of the subwoofers will be easier.

Getting the offerings that GuaranteedEV recommended may yield rival performance but you will need to do one of two things.

1. Buy plate amps for each sub which will make the complexity of the build similar to the Rythmik kits.
2. Buy an external amplifier and possibly external EQ, which may need a HPF depending on your design, and then the setup including sensitivity balancing, gain control, master volume, etc.

Just pointing it out is all.

If you have the DIY knack and are semi-audio equipment savy then setting up all the external equipment after you build your subs won't be a big deal. In fact it will probably contribute to the fun of DIY.

If you are looking for a simplier route I would plan on using a plate amp in your designs, such as the Rythmik kits.

If you haven't done it already download WinISD and wrap your brain around using the software.

That is part of the reason I was leaning towards Rythmik. :)

was tempted by Rhythmiks

I was very tempted by the Rhythmiks. There servo control seems like a great way to deal with Theil Small parameters by making them virtual. But then I thought, I can get a Exodus driver and save some money using the 300 watt per channel Emo XPA-3 that I was using with my old subs. I initially wanted a Shiva X2 12" thinking that would be plenty for my space and would be ideal for a ready made 3cf cabinet, but they only had one in stock. So I ordered a fifteen inch Tempest X2 too after a few days. I also got a TC Sounds 15" passive radiator for use with the Shiva and a Exodus 18" passive radiator for the Tempest in a 4cf cabinet. I hired a carpenter to build that cabinet. Together the two subs (or even just one of them) sound wonderful.
BUT it cost more than a single Rhythmik High Output 15" sub by the time I was finished.
I do not regret choosing the Exodus drivers, they have satisfied me completely and have very low distortion and are very powerful and go very low. They have the XBR2 motor that reduce many of the distortions that Rhythmik also controls with its servo. Their excursion/xmax is on the order of 28mm, more than one inch each way and the passive radiators have nearly twice that.
