I've read reviews on these, I just wondered if they would be a good choice for hard rock? I've struck out with a lot of speakers like some vintage JBL/Polk for getting definition and balance with hard rock. B&Ws mini towers I have are well-defined but sound like tin cans at low volume, lots of coloring in mids/highs at low volume but all that totally disappears as you get louder.

I auditioned a set of Thiels way back when. Overall, I liked them but they would not be my choice for listening to rock. It is precisely this requirement to play rock that sealed my decision to get the Era D5. When I want a good heavy music day, the D5 always go back into the system.
