Say, you guys have 7 new speakers, a new yammy rxv2600, a new tv and a 1200USD sub (SVS, Axiom, whatever) … then suddenly you win a gift check worth 3000USD at your local audio store which has the following packages worth exactly 3000USD each.

Option 1
Velodyne DD-15

Option 2
Rotel 200w x 2
Rotel 120w x 5
another 1200USD axiom or svs sub

Which would you choose?

hm...i voted on the poll before even reading the question. I just thought..."theoretical question, option 1 or option 2?" sorta like "Would you like what's behind door number 1 or door number 2?"

Still...I stand by my answer. :D

I would go with option 2 because that's just to much to spend on a sub. I swear by the HGS/DD Velo subs, - have a HGS-18. But, I am not willing to pay that amount of money for it and the amplification and sub upgrade you are looking at gives you a huge overall upgrade.

Heck, then I would take both subs, sell them online, and buy a DD-18 for the money I made off that. ;)

I'm cheap, but my tastes aren't. So, I have to work around both.

so you dont want to spend that amount of money on the dd-15, but you're gonna buy a dd-18?

or you mean, you want the amps AND the DD?

the rotel digital amps are about to come out ...

aside from space and weight savings, what does digital do better than our standard amps?

option 2. You'll be very happy with option 2. I'm also thinking of a two option upgrade. I should probably take my own advise, leave the monster sub and get the other components.

Go with option 1, the velodyne DD-15 sub, it's one of the best subs out there, bar none.

I owned a Rotel stereo amp, 200watts x2, I promptly returned it after a week. Rotel over-emphasizes the lower frequencies, everything was boomy.
