I am putting a theatre area in my basement and I am concerned about the location. I live in a townhouse and the wall I feel will accommodate the best layout is a block demising wall. I’m worried if I install my speakers in the new 2x4 wall against the block they will bleed over into the space next door. The other side of the wall has furring and 1/2" drywall and my side will have 2x4 walls with 1/2" drywall and insulation. If I install speakers with a back box will that reflect the sound away from the block wall and towards me or not?
The only reason I picked that wall is because of the layout of the duct work in my basement, I have 11' from that wall to my center beam and I only have 7' from the opposite wall to my duct work, for projector sake.
Or should I build length ways, meaning 11' wide and 23' deep with the screen mounted on the 11' section vs. the 23' demising wall. But I’m not sure about seating then.......
Any ways, any thoughts I would appreciate, if need be I can always post a sketch of the area.
