That would be a negative. Theater Research is a well known "white van" speaker. They have a "retail price" that they list or tell you, but then offer them to you at a much lower price. The truth is, the speakers are junk and didn't cost much to make at all. Stay away from Theater Research.

If you get them cheap enough (under $500 for a 5.1 system) they sound as good as entry level HTiB systems but at least look much nicer. I would not, however recommend them as the people selling them are very shady and do not deserve the business.

For example, we reviewed a set of Canyon Audio (Theater Research) speakers for $527 (for a 5.0 system) and they were average. Then they raised the price to $1,300+ for the system (same system, they just decided to triple the price following our review) and we had to re-adjust the review's value ratings to reflect that joke of a price.

Some companies are clueless.

Wow. I just visited their site after reading this. I actually remember when the first review was first posted here and thinking, "wow, for $527, you could do a lot worse." Now, at nearly $1400...well, all I can say is what's already been said. It's a joke...and a bad one at that. Who are they kidding?

They even quoted you so it would look legit.
