Merry Christmas Everyone- Need help. Currently I have a Mitsubishi 63" DLP 1080P connected to the following equipment:
1) Polk LSI 15s- Front (2)
2) Polk LSI C- Center
3) Polk LSI 9s- Rear (2)
4) Velodyne Sub
5) Yamaha RX-V2600
6) Sony Blue Ray DVD
7) Monster Power Unit

I am switching out the DLP TV for a 1080P DLP Projector so that I can view put it on a 100" screen. What other equipment do I need to maximize my system? Do I need an amp?

Look forward to suggestions. Thanks

I would say you need a couple of amps to run the LSi's. You might want to purchase one, and see if it makes a audible difference over the receiver.

What subwoofer are you using?

I believe the LSI's are 4 ohm and have a sensitivity of 88dB. You may be one of the few of us who actually need an amp. We all have them though because we are Audiholics!

Looks like a great set-up but I am uncertain which Vel. sub you have.

May I just suggest some acoustic treatment and a good bottle of Scotch?

While the speakers are 4 ohms, the sensitivity usually is rated in the anechoic chamber specs to which you would add about 4 dB so it is about 92 dB spl at 1m.
Why don't you try it with that Yam and see how it is doing and as was suggested, room treatments will go a long way for you.
You can always add amps later.:D

Which SPL-R? You may be missing the really low end with the Velo. How large is your room (L x W x H)? As others have mentioned, a separate amp will help with the low impedance of the Polk LSis.

You need an HD DVD player.

And since you are already thinking about it, you might as well get that 200 wpc x 7-ch amp and be done with it. Let's face. You are going to be thinking about it everyday until you get that shiny new amp. Am I right, or am I right?:D
