Hi folks. I am in the almost starting stages of my contractors starting to finish my theater room. Room is 15 x 10. We've been discussing the use of Roxul and I'm being told that is very expensive and blowing my budget. Are there any cheaper alternatives to consider? Thanks.

PS: Is this the right forum? thanks.

Expensive is a relative term and there are 3 different densities for Roxul. Check with a drywall supplier for a price on the least dense/expensive (4 lb/ft^3) as that is what you would want for reducing sound transmission and compare that to what your contractor is saying it costs. Maybe your contractor just doesn't like mineral wool. I don't think it's more than ~ 30 cents per square foot. That's cheap. I think $150 covers your room in material but check. ;)
