The Warriors: Ultimate Directors Cut (Blu-ray)

I picked this up on BD because I always liked the movie and it has been discontinued, that and the SD version I have has awful pq. I didn't realize what the directors cut did to the movie until I saw it. Basically he 'comic bookedatized' the change between a few of scenes. While in some parts it didn't bother me, in others I found it to be distracting and ruin the tension that I remember, like in the scene where they come out of the subway station only to run in the Baseball Furies. I need to watch it again to really see how I feel about the changes. Initially I don't care for them and wish they had included the theatrical release with it. I now wonder if it has been discontinued so they can release it again with that option.

Is it just me or does anyone else not care for the new version?

I haven't seen the new version but probably wouldn't like it based on your description of it.

I have it on DVD and it has a DD 1.0 soundtrack. As far as I can tell the DVD version I have is the original.

Part of what's wrong with it is how modern the changes, which only add up to a minute or two, look. They really look and feel out of place with a gritty 70's movie. I still need to rewatch it, maybe Sunday, to see how I feel about it without the knee jerk reaction to the changes.

It's definitely a cult classic and remember 'The chicks are packed!' :D
