The Top AV Gear Guide looks like 2014 Gear!

Gents,

I just downloaded the Top AV Gear Guide and it looks like 2014 gear to me. I have a Sony STR-DN1050 Receiver I bought last year and the STR-DN1040 is in the recommended list. (The linked Audioholics review is from 2013!) I've heard on other sites the STR-DN1060 is just days away from release.

Sony has it on their web site! (I can't post links yet...)

Did someone just rename the 2014 file by mistake and upload it? Seems weird to me.

Regards,

Jim ;)

Jim;

There are a few carryovers from last year since new models are in flux ATM. But there are many new products in the new Gift Guide. For budget receiver, the Sony's are quite good. As long as the successor weighs at least as much as last year's model, I would still recommend it. Once details are out we will update the ebook. thanks.

Thanks Gene.

Sony has built on the success of the Sony STR-DN1030 for it's subsequent 1040 model, and later the 1050. I auditioned the 1040 just as it was being discontinued (usually a good practice when looking to save a dollar or two on new equipment). The store had a 30 day return policy so I took advantage of that offer, but decided I wanted a little more capability on Zone 2, as well as the ability to play FLAC File natively over my Home Network. The 1040 cannot do that but the 1050 does.

I have been very pleased with the Sony STR-DN1050 but would like to see an information screen that displays a summary of all of the current settings via HDMI to the 55 Inch LED LCD I have above it. (I think they could do it as a Firmware Upgrade to their HOME Screen.) My 1050 is down low on a TV Stand and very tough to read with it's small display and LED indicator lights. This would be a good standard for all Receiver OEMs to adopt.

When I was looking I was prepared to spend up to $1,500 or so on a Denon or Marantz; but was blown away at the value proposition Sony put out on the Sony STR-DN1050.

Not that I'm looking anymore, but it would be helpful for your readers / viewers (I watch a lot of your You Tube Channel) if Audioholics would review the Sony STR-DN1060 when it hits the street.

Thanks for the assist.

Regards,

Jim ;)
