How timely is this thread! We rented it last weekend, too. The pacing was good, but how much can you do with an ugly subject matter like this?
Funny thing is, I seem to recall hearing of this movie title years ago. My wife said this is a 'hot new release' (at least that's what the sticker at Blockbuster said) and she thinks it's a new film. I pondered that it maybe a remake of an older film.
Funny coincidence, the next day I was driving the inlaws to JFK Airport and we passed right under the Pelham 123 train line on the way down and back.
