The Snow Bowl - Lions vs. Eagles

Was that fun or what? I will admit to taking a defeatist attitude once Detroit put 8 points on the board. I figured with the way the snow kept coming and the sloppy conditions on the field, 8 points would be more than enough points to win the game. Add in Ol’ St. Nick Foles throwing his first interception of the year and I assumed surely the God’s had abandoned us. But being a masochistic Eagles fan I couldn’t leave the scene of the crime. Win or lose, a true Birds fan sticks it out, come what may.

Then God smiled, the snow abated enough for McCoy to barrel for 217 yards … an Eagles team single game rushing record to surpass HOF’er Steve Van Buren, set in 1949; a mere 64 years ago … and all was well with the world. Certainly a game I will never forget.

Sawzalot ... that's a cool treatment to the pic's. What's the secret? :)

Thru the years I've gone on and on about the inclement weather games of my youth, in the 60's & early 70's, to my son & son-in-law and how much fun they were to watch ... the 1967 Ice Bowl game, between Dallas & Green Bay anyone? ... and I'd get these looks like I'm a doddering old fool. Well after yesterday they will have a memory that will persist and they'll ramble on about it to their own family and friends. After the game was over they stuck around to watch it again ... I had recorded the game on the DVR ... and a rousing good time was had by all. Except for my poor wife who had to feed them again. :D

Hopefully this years Super Bowl will follow suit.

On another note, I sure do miss the old VCR days, whereby I'd record a program from the TV and keep it for posterity. :(

The quality might not have been the best but it was something you could hang your hat on & enjoy again when the mood struck you. :)

Yeah, annoys the hell out of me. Especially when you notice that all of those cable boxes have USB ports on them. There's got to be a way to download the files from them so you can save them.

I actually have no idea how that happened, it was automatically done through picassa when I uploaded to the web pics.
I hope the Superbowl is a SnowBowl as well

Would be a fitting place for Romo to break the curse. Of course it would have to be a cold day for that to happen.

I'm not an Eagles fan and DEFINITELY not a Detroit fan. But that was an awesome game! Love the snow bowls where the conditions suck which makes for one heck of a game. I went to SI's MMQB webpage and ready an article written by one of the writers who interviewed one of SI's photographers who was assigned to cover the Detroit-Philly game. It includes slide shows of his photos. Some great photos came out of that game. Like the helmet full of snow after getting tackled face-first in the snow.

On a side note...did anyone else see part of the ATL-GB game where Steven Jackson took the helmet to the "nether region" and where it was replayed in slow motion? On the 65" plasma, that hand me cringing in sympathy pain.

Now that is Entertainment!!! :D Will definitely search for that, as soon I’m done replying.

I think that was Calvin Johnson in the 1st quarter. One of the few NFL prima donnas I respect but that was hilarious. He got face planted and came up with a full face motorcycle helmet. :D

It was elementary school for me all over. :)

Yep! That's the hit that had men cringing in pain all over the viewing area. I don't care how tough you are, that is gonna hurt! My wife just laughed as I sat in my chair in a fetal position after viewing that. She just doesn't understand... :(
