Redboxed this one tonight. SD DVD not Blu because the box only had it on DVD and since I reserved it online, it doesn't tell you that. In any case, it was a pretty good flick. Very good acting, particularly the Twilight chick as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as "Cherry Bomb" Cherrie. Very good sound for a DVD and though it does seem to capture the idea, I am not sure it is as gritty as the real story probably was. As movies about music/bands go, I'd say this one was pretty good overall. Good one for fans of The Runaways/Joan Jett, and rock "films that rock" (VH1) in general. NOT a chick flick. Definitely worth a rental.

I rented the BD last week. I really enjoyed it too. Though it was a tad disturbing to see Dakota doing drugs and being sexy. The music was awesome. I also thought Kristin did a good job as Joan Jett. I watched it again listening to the commentary with Joan, Kristin and Dakota. It was pretty enlightening. One of the "making of" shorts had a great pic of Joan and Kristin standing together. Very cool.

" ... and you?! ... you're just a filthy ... pussy ... " LOL :D

That line got to be my favorite after listening to the commentary. Joan Jet sounds like she's maybe permabuzzed but I guess maybe that's the price to be paid. I didn't realize there was a real group called The Runaways so this got to be an informative movie for me. Mostly I was interested in Joan Jet and in what the film had to say about the music business being a business.

The film for me was a 3/5 but the story told and what the commentary reveals bring it up some ... a must see rental for people interested in the business of Rock&Roll.

I thought the acting was great, but the movie was just good. Dakota's acting wasn't quite up to the level that I expected, but the other chick was good as Joan.

Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-Chery Bomb!

I thought that wrap up info was interesting too. I didn't know Joan released her 1st solo album on her own. I bet those 20 studios that turned her down were all kicking themselves after it sold millions of copies.
