The quest for the perfect hose nozzle...

Ahh the very exciting world of garden hose nozzles. :) I am looking for a simple and good quality hose nozzle that will last more than 6 months and has a few key features.

I have a couple brass twist nozzles that work fine and last forever. However, when I'm washing vehicles such I prefer a trigger style nozzle. The problem is that most trigger style nozzles have the trigger on the back. When it lands in just the right position, which they seem to do 90% of the time, it ends up squirting me in the face. I just hate that.

I thought I had found the perfect solution a while back at Wal-Mart. I found a trigger style nozzle with one key difference. It was "hand gun style" with the trigger on the inside of the grip. No more unwanted outdoor showers!

Well, it was the perfect solution, while it lasted. A few months later the thing just started to disintegrate. Not long after, it completely stopped working. The thing was made of aluminum but it was full of cheap plastic parts.

So, does anyone know where I can find a good quality long lasting hand gun style hose nozzle?

I found one. I went through all of them, too. I needed one that could withstand dropping it on the concrete driveway. I got tired of the pistol grip. This new style is like a firemans hose. Just a twist and it drenches everything. Works well for plants, too. I think it's from Wally World as well. $7 ???

The problem with those solutions is that they would not give me one handed operation, which is something I want. Thanks for the replies. :)

I have the trigger style one and it is plastic. I've had it for many years with many drops onto the ground and it has held up just fine. I couldn't tell you where I got it, but you might want to look into a plastic one. They are tougher than you might think. Most likely I got it at Home Depot, but I don't remember exactly.

That's a nice one. I've got one of these, too, but I prefer the firemans nozzle to it. This one does have a clip to lock in place, but it's a pita releasing it every time. A twist is a bit easier.

Not a trigger one, but you won't find anything better this side of the fire department :)
Wow, JGarcia wins! That's got to be the nicest household hose nozzle I've ever seen. At both firehouses I run out of, we just have plain old metal twist nozzles on the standard water hoses. Nice ones would get dropped too much. Even the several hundred dollar nozzles on our companies get dropped too much when we're just doing trainings. It'd be nice to wash off the companies with a big fog water pattern, instead of just the ol' thumb over the hose end.

Add this to the one jgarcia found...

This is a nice add on for the nozzle jgarcia found. I have one and love it. Note: I added a small piece of copper wire in place of the steel one, that is longer and has a flat bend. I can lever it forward to block the level from being squeezed. Handy for keeping my 2 year old from soaking me while I am washing the car :D
