Realizing that half of your music collection is crap~! But then again finding the few recordings that are really well done... well I guess it totally makes it worth it. Been a proud owner of some mg 12s for just less than a week. If I knew how nice hi-fi was I would have gotten in years ago! Just thought I would stop by and say HI!

Hey Chris, Congrats on the Maggies...


And I agree that anytime one invests in a good quality audio system, we or most people with a discerning ear become more and more aware of how crappy some of these so called audio engineers are allowing recordings to be sold out on the market, yet all the while they (RIAA) are crying that every tom **** and harry is stealing from them... Maybe someone can step up to the plate and state a point, that, could it be that we the consumer who pays good money on our passion for music, are being robbed by the lack of quality.

what center do you have?

I wouldn't mind giving the mmg/mmgc/mmgw's a 60 day try. My only concern is their frequency range.. They (the center and surrounds) bottom out at 100hz. Would having your sub play up to 100hz (vs the typical 80) have any adverse side effects in sound quality?

Also, what's your impression of how directional the sound is? Can you move around much and still enjoy a nice sound from them?

This is just my .02 as I don't own but I have heard up and down the maggie line.

The music you listen to is an important factor. Acoustic music is reproduced so well, yet certain rock and pop may be a little "off".
The imaging is so amazing.... I can say my hardest decision was to not buy maggies but they have problems unique to them, such as space and power, and man... boy oh boy do they pick up on bad recordings.

As for the issue about only going down to 100 hz... I don't think it will be a problem with a nice clean sub.

Yup. Ever since I upgraded my speakers I find myself putting certain CDs further and further from listening rotation because they're just being revealed as too poorly produced.
