I've been watching the PBS American Experience series called The Presidents on Amazon Prime. I've seen the FDR segments and the Truman segments so far, and all I can say is that these programs are simply outstanding. They are better history lessons than I have ever received. For example, the FDR segments give you an incredible insight into just how unprepared the US was for WWII, and you get remarkable insight into the dynamics of American politics. I'm finding the series captivating. It was first released in 1994, when I was too busy to watch television of any kind, and I'm just glad I got the chance to watch it now. I can't recall exclaiming "I didn't know that!" more times than I have with this series. These shows are true gems.
